Electric Heaters for Aviation Ground Operations
Heating components for composite tooling, ground support equipment maintenance, component processing and workshop applications. Ground-based process heating, not flight hardware.
Ground-Based Applications
UniTherm supplies electric heating components for ground-based aviation applications, including heaters used in tooling, workshops, test rigs and ground support equipment. If your application has specific quality, traceability or certification requirements, include them in your enquiry.
Composite Tooling and Processing
Composite manufacturing in the aerospace and aviation sector relies on controlled heating at multiple stages. Cartridge heaters and silicone rubber heaters maintain mould and tool temperatures during composite layup and curing. Strip heaters and infrared heaters support secondary curing and bonding operations.
For large composite tools, silicone rubber heaters provide flexible, conformable heat across curved surfaces. For smaller moulds and fixtures, cartridge heaters deliver concentrated heat to specific zones. The selection depends on the tool geometry, the curing temperature profile and the thermal uniformity required.
Workshop and Maintenance Equipment
Aviation maintenance workshops use heaters in equipment such as parts washers, drying ovens, paint booths and environmental test chambers. Immersion heaters heat cleaning solutions and rinse water. Tubular heating elements provide heat in recirculating air ovens. Infrared heaters support localised drying and paint curing on components.
Replacement heaters for workshop equipment are a common requirement. Matching the original heater specification ensures the equipment continues to operate as designed without modification.
Ground Support Equipment
Ground support equipment that operates in hangars and on aprons may use electric heaters for fluid preheating, hydraulic system warming or test-stand temperature control. Immersion heaters, circulation heaters and cartridge heaters can serve these applications depending on the medium and the operating parameters.
Material and Temperature Considerations
Aviation workshop applications often involve cleaning solvents, hydraulic fluids, adhesives and coatings. The heater sheath material must be compatible with the specific fluid. Stainless steel suits many water-based and mild chemical applications. More aggressive solvents or fluids may require specialty alloys. Describe the medium and conditions in your enquiry for a proper material recommendation.
